Dr Andrew Forrest has come out with an AUDT dollar pegged to the gold coin to protect Australians from inflation and the inevitable collapse of fiat currency.
I can see this becoming extremely popular with almost no drawbacks. The only bad thing would be if people were to head down a bitcoin to a gold backed stable coin route that would ultimately discourage people from purchasing actual physical gold.
As of 11-5-2024, I would have started with one of the many stable Coins available. Maybe the one offered by Tether (Platinum) or Paxos.
